Description

For a few days, there have been a number of large sunspots. A cluster of sunspots especially the size of these could mean more solar activity, causing potential communication and power grid issues on Earth, hazards to satellites but on the positive more beautiful auroras.  Each cluster consists of several sunspots, and covers an area of hundreds of millions of square miles — much larger than Earth's diameter. They are caused by magnetic disruptions of the visible photosphere of the sun, which exposes the relatively cooler layers underneath.

Sunspot clusters left to right : 2996, 2995, 2994 and 2993.

The Astromechanic lens controller has made a major difference on being able to focus as no longer need to touch the lens to focus but can do it through software - in this case SharpCap.
